Tyler Morning Telegraph sportswriter Harold Wilson, 36, was indicted by a Smith County grand Jury, Oct. 30, according to documents released by the 241st Judicial District Court.
Last June, Wilson turned himself into police on a charge of sexual assault of a child. Wilson was accused of having improper relations with a 15-year old female from John Tyler High School.
The student told police the two met at a John Tyler football game and they attended the same church. The arrest affidavit stated that Wilson had given the girl rides home from the games back in 2012. The teenage girl said on the way home, he would stop at local parks where they would engage in sexual relations.
Reports say an elder at their church became aware of the relationship and confronted the two about it and they both admitted to it. The elder reported it to police and the affidavit states that Wilson sent a text to the girl which read, “Have u told anyone at the [at the church] about us? Honestly? I think I’m in trouble. If you did say something like I’m thinking u did, don’t EVER talk to me or text me Ever again!”
Wilson also told her in a text, “This is going to turn my world upside down.”
He was released from Smith County Jail on a $100,000 bond.
