I have no idea how much money of mine went to the old Dunkin Donuts in Tyler. I used to go there before work or on a coffee break since my job was right around the corner. I also used to go before church from time to time. Nothing hit the spot quite like a Boston Cream washed down by a cup of coffee. Really, Dunkin Donuts coffee is second to none. Although I love Starbucks, I’d have to say Dunkin Donuts is my favorite. At any rate, when Dunkin Donuts became “Donut Place” (no, not “Palace”), it was kind of like a part of me died.
I remember a lady who worked there told me since the name change, they were even better before. Yeah, that wasn’t the case. In my opinion, the coffee was more watered down and all the donuts were still pretty good, things weren’t quite the same.
Plus, I think we all knew it was a matter of time until that store closed down. That’s exactly what happened and ever since and Tyler has been without a Dunkin Donuts for far too long. However, that’s about to change. Dunkin Donuts is returning to Tyler. A new shopping center on the loop and Kinsey will feature both Baskin Robins and Dunkin Donuts. I think it’s safe to say I know where I’ll get coffee and a doughnut in the mornings.
