Last week was a busy week. It involved multiple trips to Dallas including: one airport pick- up, a staff conference for my wife’s work, and a soccer tournament for my son’s team. During the course of these events, we ate at numerous area restaurants, (always trying to hit the establishments we lack in Tyler or Lindale). And for all that, my favorite was the first one we visited for breakfast; an area hot spot called the Old West Café.
Now as much as I love Texas, and generally all things Texan, I’m not always a fan of rustic restaurants. The Old West Café is emphatically the exception that proves the rule. The look and décor of the place is definitely reflective of a country eatery but the food is anything but cliché. The breakfast options are not only substantial, but delicious and surprising. It’s a wonderful example of quality and quantity combined. I highly recommend the lemon pancakes, or even better (if that’s possible), the lemon blueberry.
