Ted Cruz has East Texans excited after his recent announcement. While speaking to a crowd at Liberty University, the world’s largest Christian University, the junior senator from Texas made it public that he’s going to run for President of the United States.
Cruz was the first to throw his name in the hat as a candidate for the 45th President and nearly 40 percent of Republicans said they would consider voting for the Texas senator for the GOP presidential nomination.
Former governor of Florida, Jeb Bush is expected to join Cruz as a candidate for the position. He has strong support from Tea Party which could go a long way in making him our next Commander-in-chief. His Christian faith and conservative convictions make him a favorite among East Texans and the fact he attended Princeton and Harvard Law School is evidence of his intelligence as well as a legal background. Not to mention, his Hispanic background will likely help him earn votes from the Hispanic communities.
In his speech to the crowd at Liberty, he spoke of his vision of securing the borders and doing away with the IRS. Some may argue Cruz threw his hat in the ring too early but one thing is for sure; we’ll be hearing his name a lot and he definitely gives Republicans and East Texans a solid option for Obama’s replacement.
