Wit’s End Ranch Out In East Texas Country

January 4th, 2010

Wit’s End Ranch

As you unload your children from the car the excitement explodes through their scream and their eyes will light up as they are greeted by the miniature goats and sweet, small dogs. Wit’s end ranch is on 70 acres, family owned, here in East Texas. Wit’s End offers many different services. It is a great place to throw a birthday party! They also open for school field trips and other group events.

This is the perfect place for small children and toddlers to come play. Your children will not only love the large and exciting petting zoo, but they will love the zip line for every age, the toy tractors, and the giant sandboxes. Your kids will also love the large play areas and jungle gyms.

When we first went to Wit’s End, the staff was extremely friendly, and very helpful to make sure that you and your kids has the best time that you would not soon forget. They will show you around to their sweet and adorable animals. Where else do your little kids get to ride on the shell of a turtle? Or where else will your kids get to play with the miniature goats? Wit’s End raises Old English Baby Doll sheep, Nigerian Pygmy goats, miniature horses, miniature donkeys, extra small pot belly pigs, rabbits, chickens, cats, dogs and so much more. They breed many animals that you can buy and raise at home as a pet.

If you have a birthday party at Wit’s End Ranch, you can choose different events to do at the ranch. They offer making meals for your kids. They also offer a hay ride. This hayride is not just a tractor pulling kids as you uncomfortably sit on a pile of hay that pokes through your pants. They make the hay ride something more. Hiding things in the woods and putting faces on the trees, they make the forest come alive. Your kids will get lost in the exotic woods, and they will have fun finding the items that they hide.

Wit’s End is a great place to take your family. You will have so much fun playing with the animals and watching them do tricks. If you want to take your kids to somewhere new and different, Wit’s End Ranch is like no other place. Check out their website and call ahead if you want to schedule a party or school field trip!

Things To Do In Tyler Texas

December 16th, 2009

This will be a reoccurring topic in the Tyler TX Directory as one of the most common things you hear in any non-metropolitan city is that there is nothing to do in this town. I usually hear this from those obviously too cool to be living in Tyler with their facial piercings and angry Mohawk syndrome. Let’s face it there are some cool people in Tyler and I see them hanging out all the time over at Starbucks. From what I hear they all want to go to New York to experience life because this town is just not that cool and never was.

Well I like Tyler Texas and have found some interesting things to do here quite frequently. About half of making this town fun and enjoyable is to get yourself connected with some local friends. These friends will make things more fun in general regardless of what you do and will be able to hook you up with some places you would not normally have access to. For instance, I get to fish at this private lake from time to time with my father n’ law that I never knew about before. I won’t say where exactly but there are about 7 different camps, Christian camps, and retreats in the Tyler area that have everything from ziplines, pools, private lakes, to mountain bike trails. These little areas represent some extras that most Tyler people do not have access to but with a few connections you could very easily be able to have a little fun at one of these places. You may already have access to one of these places but have taken it for granted.

In fact why don’t you comment on what you think is fun to do in Tyler Texas to add to this list. I think everyone could use some fresh ideas for what they can do in Tyler that is fun and entertaining. It’s nice getting to change things up a little and do something different.

Wit’s End Ranch in Canton Texas

October 20th, 2009

Wit’s End Ranch offers a unique experience for getting out in the fall weather if you live in Tyler or the East Texas area. Wit’s end has several petable animals at their ranch from a breed of cats called “rag doll cats”, Cairn Terrier puppies, miniature horses, extra small pot bellied pigs, and English doll sheep. Tyler Texas Baby Doll Sheep
My favorite is the extra small pot bellied pigs and I would buy one if my wife would let me. For some reason she thinks they are dirty animals 🙂

At Wit’s End they have many facilities and activities like hay rides and interaction with their animals. Kids can pet and feed the animals and learn about farm life. My wife went with our child to Wit’s End on a MOPS event. Tyler Texas Miniature Horse This was an event where moms got to bring their preschool children with them to the farm to experience this unique farm life and the animals that live there. Most of these animals have no agricultural purpose other then for the enjoyment of children but the farm experience is still all there.

For those young girls who like pony’s or the My Little Pony cartoon series you will be happy to know that they have several different kinds of miniature horses. Wits End Ranch miniature horses vary in size from the child riding size down to their little stallion that looks like a big dog. Tyler Texas Miniature Pot Bellied Pigs They recently put a mini jenny in the pen with the stallion that looks like a big dog in hopes of making a miniature mule.

For a very fun and unique time we highly recommend taking a visit out to Wits End Ranch. For those who say there isn’t anything to do in Tyler Texas we need to remind you to come back and visit Tyler Texas Directory for constantly updated ideas like visiting Wits End. The picture to the right is one of my favorites. You have a pot bellied pig and a baby English doll sheep both reaching for the milk bottle. They probably grew up together like Milo and Otis and and play together. One of the funniest things to see is two completely different animals like a pig and a lamb running around wrestling with each other. I am not an animal fanatic to the point of enjoying indoor animals but at the same time I can’t resist seeing a dog and cat snuggle up to each other or in this case a pig and a lamb.

We haven’t actually heard of something as interesting as Wit’s End for awhile. I am used to the typical stuff everyone in Tyler is already familiar with like the Rose Garden, Rose Rudman Park, and Discovery Science Center. This farm adventure provides a little detour from the typical attractions you may already be familiar with in the Tyler area. If you are allergic to hay as I am be sure to bring some allergy medicine with you or better yet just take it before you go.
