One of the requirements of life which I most dislike is the process of moving! Thankfully, (and I mean that sincerely) it’s been almost seven years since my last move, due to the fact that I own my own house. However I’ve been around a lot of movers lately, and I have often had a boarder or two in my spare room. Obviously there are two components to the move: the move in and the move out. Both of these stages happen nearly simultaneously so it’s important that the tenet/ roommate/ partner (no I don’t like that vague terminology either but whatever), not place all of his or her attention on one stage at the expense of the other. A balanced approach is really what we’re looking for here.
The Move In:
The first thing that I find important is to define your space. I think in most cases this has probably already happened to one degree or another at the time you decided to move. If you’re moving into a house or an apartment where other people already live, this is difficult but imperative. I think the institution of marriage would have experienced a great deal more success and popularity in recent years, had it not required cohabitation. When the culture and mood of a house (meaning its occupants) already exists, keep to your designated space and don’t try to change what’s there unless invited to do so. I realize that this seems obvious, but I’ve had numerous boarders that didn’t quite get this concept. Asking of you can hang a few items of clothing in your new roommate’s closet or if you can change or place new pictures on the living room wall is probably not going to be seen as generous or helpful. Over time your space will grow as the other occupants grow more comfortable with you in the house. By keeping to your space; I mean your boxes and such. I don’t mean yourself. I don’t recommend making a b-line for the new room and closing the door. It’s important that your new roommates not suspect that they are now living with the Una-bomber. By the way I don’t recommend starting to unpack until the move out process has been completed. Lastly, don’t be afraid to throw old or unused, unimportant items away! This is a big one to me. Leave the high school letter jacket and yearbooks in your parent’s attic. Shred those ten year old checkbooks and bank statements. Trust me you’re never going to use them, and keeping all this stuff only makes you look like a hoarder.
The Move out:
If you’re moving out of an apartment the rules for move outs are firmly established at the time of the move in. Out by this date or no returned deposit. If the agreement is more flexible, then it’s important not to exhaust your friends and roommates. First off be out on the agreed upon date. You’re living with people not a corporation. Most likely they have other plans for the space you occupy. Don’t use that space as a storage container. This is why I don’t recommend unpacking until the move is completed. Any organization should be done at that time by the way. The goal is simply to get your possessions out of the old residence and into the new with as little damage to property as possible. My rule is: don’t sleep at the new place until the move is complete. I understand that’s not always possible, so I don’t consider it a hard and fast rule. But I try to observe the spirit of the law. I think it’s also important to emphasize that the move is not complete until a good cleaning has taken place. Don’t leave the space a mess for others to clean up. A good few times over with the vacuum, and a Magic Erasure for the walls will make a huge difference, and ensure that your good name is not damaged in the process of the move.
Living in the same house with others can be really difficult. Things that seem small to you may drive your roommates up the wall, and vice-versa. But with a little maturity and consideration, the move doesn’t have to permanently damage your relationships. On the brighter side, a move can help to simplify your life, if you take the time and have the strength of will to part with things that clutter it up. Remember, it’s just stuff! You will accumulate more, like it or not, guaranteed.
Texas Roadhouse is a steak restaurant in Tyler Texas and is most closely compared to Outback Steakhouse.
At the same time they are very different places. For one you have buckets of peanuts still in the shell to chuck and pop in your mouth.
You can then throw the shells anywhere you like. Be careful not to throw too closely to someones foot as you never know when you may be next to a Texas redneck. The redneck has been known to stomp on yer face if a peanut shell lands on their boot or girlfriend.
The weekends are crazy busy and much busier than Outback Steakhouse. The atmosphere is brighter inside and gives off a Texas ranch style charm.
The waitresses and waiters are all pretty young but almost all seem like seasoned wait staff that have worked in restaurants for years.
When you meet your waitress or waiter they often get right down to business and may not have time for lots of friendly banter which is ok because this means they move quick.
You get loads of rolls with cinammon butter and they always seem quick to notice refills in need.
Most of what’s on the menu is really good. I usually get the Fort Worth T-bone and my wife gets a small filet.
Regarding their vegetables stay away from the green beans. They taste like you’re eating a salty slimy grasshopper but other then that Texas Roadhouse is great!
It’s that time of year again, Christmas trees, family gatherings, holiday blockbusters and school Christmas plays. Ok so it’s kind of an awkward lead in, but over the last few days the King’s Academy Christian School (KACS) drama department has been holding its annual Christmas play. This year the students are presenting the classic “It’s a Wonderful Life!” The play is being held on Campus at King’s Academy (a facility the school shares with Trinity Baptist Church). The setting is a dinner theatre / coffee and dessert, and the performance takes place with in a circle of table and chairs, for a sort of theater and the round experience.
The King’s drama department has had a very successful run since the schools inception almost seven years ago. Despite KACS smallish size they have successfully produced at least one, often two major productions every year (a fall and a spring presentation, obviously). The school has also worked closely with Tyler Civic Theatre and Roger’s Children’s Theatre over the years. Many King’s students have played roles in the community theatre’s various productions.
This fall’s project has been a great success. The staff and students have worked hard to put together a terrific adaptation of a Christmas classic. It’s a play I was surprised to see performed in a live action format but the class does a great job. The last performance will be held Saturday, the forth, at two in the afternoon. For last minute info, contact King’s Academy at (903) 534-9992. The school is located at 604 West Forth Street in Tyler.

The Power Balance bracelet is being sold in a few stores in Tyler Texas and throughout the whole country. This hologram bracelet fad has taken off beyond my wildest imagination.
When I first heard about the healing powers of hologram bracelets and an MLM opportunity to sell them I just about fell out of my seat laughing. The idea that a bracelet with a little hologram sticker can some how balance your body, cure headaches, allow you to achieve straight A’s in school and so on didn’t seem like something the mass public would fall for.
I was way off in my confidence in the American public as even some of my own family are believers in the Power Balance bracelet.
My cousin wears the EFX brand of balance bracelets but there seems to be a never ending list of balance bracelet companies out there. The price is always in the range of $20 – $40 and some companies claim more radio frequencies in their to further balance your body above and beyond their competitors.
Ours Goes to 11 Dudes
The added frequencies claim reminds me of that Spinal tap movie when Joemeek’s SC2 stereo compressor, known affectionately as “the green box” has an input gain knob that goes up to 11 compared to other stereo compressors which only go up to 10.
The insanity surrounding these bracelets continues to amaze me as actors, professional sports players and successful people in my own family buy and wear these on a daily basis.
My cousin commented about the EFX bracelet:
“Susie and I have the EFX brand and I have noticed a significant change in my lower back pain.”
Videos about the Power Balance bracelet show vague promotional lingo that steer clear of actually factually saying they really do something. You will hear things like “promote balance” or “may do this or that”
What you won’t hear from company spokesmen are verifiable factual scientific statements that they are proven to cure a headache, back pain, and other such nonsense.
EFX Bracelet
In my mind the Power Balance bracelet is nothing more then a scam just like the EFX, Q(chi) ionic/biomagnetic bracelet, Q Ray bracelet, and the plenitude of other sucker bracelets out there.
It will take you about 2 minutes to go out on youtube and research how these balance demonstrations really work. They are easy to do carnival tricks but turn thousands of people into balance bracelet wearers everyday.
“Cujo!” has been on the lips of John Tyler High School Football fans. The Lions are stomping their way through the Class 4A Division I playoffs. John Tyler has fought its way to through the season with a 12-1 record. This is only the school’s 12th time to be in the state quarter finals. Head coach Dereck Rush has led the team in an amazing record of 24 wins in the past 27 games.
The John Tyler “army” is lead by senior quarterback David Bush, who is only yards away from becoming John Tyler’s all-time passing leader. He has led the team in rushing with 1274 yards rushing and 13 touchdowns. Bush along with JT safety Chris Hackett is committed to go to Texas Christian University next year. The duo makes for an unstoppable defense and offense. Chris Hackett leads in interceptions. Hackett intercepted two passes against Carrollton Newman Smith. This was the second game in a row for Hackett to intercept two passes.
Last year John Tyler made it to the quarterfinals but sadly lost to Klein 31-7. Last year John Tyler was playing in Class 5A division. The move to Class 4A Division has seemed to boost the football team’s record.
The pride for John Tyler’s football team has spread as fans watch this strong football team fight through the regular season and through the quarter finals with the state championship in their sight. Tyler has come together in support for the school, hoping for victory in each game.
