Chuy's Mexican Food in Tyler TX

Chuy's in Tyler TX

Chuy's Tyler TexasThe riddle of the day, what does Tyler have dozens of but keeps building? If you guessed Tex-Mex restaurants, then you got it right. Chuy’s restaurant is expected to open in Tyler April of this year. Well what makes Chuy’s any different than the rest of the Tex-Mex restaurants in Tyler? Why wouldn’t we stick to eating at Jalapeño Tree or Mercado’s restaurant? Chuy’s promises a new, fun, and different environment. Chuy’s restaurant started in an old barbeque shack in Austin, Texas. As two young men, Mike Young and John Zapp used all their money to open this first restaurant; they had no more than $20 to decorate. As you can imagine they had to use what they could find. Chuy’s restaurants still use this decorating technique. At some Chuy’s restaurants you might find tire rims hanging from the ceiling or old traffic signs hanging on the wall. They have a signature item in every restaurant which is the Elvis Shrine. One of the most important things about the restaurant is that they make a fun restaurant that makes you feel right at home.

The feel of the restaurant is fun, but more importantly the food is made fresh. The two men traveled towns in South Texas, Mexican boarder towns, and New Mexico, to find the best Tex-Mex recipes. It is important that Chuy’s food is made fresh. They have amazing hand rolled tortillas, and they make their salsa fresh every hour. The amazing and fun menu is unique and will make your mouth water just reading over it. You can enjoy a great hand made signature drink or just a usual personal favorite. If you are having a party and want great food, you can order off of their great “Party to Go Menu”. The food is sure to be fresh and they have healthier choices of Mexican foods.

I thought I would slip in this sign up offer in the midst of this article. If you would like to get the occasional Tyler TX restaurant discount offer or coupon sent to your email just fill in your email address below. That’s it!

Chuy’s restaurant is a new and growing chain restaurant and its next stop is here in Tyler. Even though Tyler has so many restaurants, and a ton of the restaurants we do have are Mexican food; I think this will be a great new expansion to East Texas. Anyone who has eaten at a Chuy’s restaurant will be excited to have the restaurant open here.

Home of the best ever patent litigation judge this side of Pecos

January 3rd, 2011

John Ward Marshall TexasYou’ve seen the signs. It usually takes place as your entering into a county, small town, and even a few medium sized cities. Just as you drive up, you look to see what the highway sign says and there you see it, “Home of…” and thereafter follows the name of the local man or woman who has made some type of impact to bring recognition to their hometown.

I remember one of the most recent examples I’ve seen while passing through New Mexico. There it was, “Home of Brian Urlacher.” Of course, like any red blooded American I recognized the name of the Chicago Bears bone crushing linebacker.

When thinking about the type of recognition a couple of local boys are getting in the towns of Marshall, Texarkana, and Tyler I’m starting to wonder if their names deserve being put on a highway sign. I can see it now, “Home of T. John Ward Jr.” What, you don’t recognize the name?

Let me elaborate. For those who have not heard, there is a trend taking place in the court rooms of these 3 East Texas towns that has waves of lawyers and legal representatives from all parts of the United States flooding in, and they are getting beat out by the local guy.

This trend is the ever growing patent infringement litigation cases. Due to favorable decisions for plaintiffs of patent infringement cases, anyone looking to win their case makes sure it happens in East Texas.

And this includes patent trolls, those appropriately labeled businesses that only look to buy patents from other businesses in order to use them for these types of infringement cases. And when it comes to winning these cases, the local names are getting game. One key ingredient to winning cases in these counties is to have a local lawyer who knows the jury and what they want to hear.

With big names companies entering in these cases you would expect to hear big name lawyers, but rather, the names you hear are from the graduating class of ’72 of the local high school, and that’s something to hang your hat on.

The Weather in Tyler, Texas

January 14th, 2010

Growing up in Colombia, South America we always dreamt of snow. In fact, we used to dress leafless trees for Christmas, with cotton, simulating snow. In Colombia, snow is foreign to the people that live in the cities and many have never seen it fall. To see snow, you have to go to the top of the tallest mountains. The weather is always the same depending on the altitude of the city in which you live. The fact is that people somewhat have a desire of experiencing the four seasons of the year.

My family and I also lived in Waterloo, Iowa for 10 years and could see the dread of winter on the faces of people, especially those who grew up there. Winter is long and the warm months are short. You need to love the cold and snow to live up there.

We’ve been living in Tyler, Texas on and off for the past 20 years and something that I appreciate about the weather here in Tyler is to be able to enjoy and experience all the seasons that are somewhat balanced. It does not matter what time of the year it is, you can still go outside and work or enjoy walking or playing, and at the same time enjoy the changes of the seasons that nature has to offer. Something that we enjoy is seeing the green everywhere, combined with the beautiful colors of the flowers in the spring.

Tyler also has the multicolor change of the leaves of the trees in autumn. When our friends from New Mexico come to visit, they are always impressed by the beauty of the colors.

Like every place, it has its pros and cons. The summers in Tyler and east Texas could be a little harsh. Heat and humidity can make someone that is coming from a dryer place, run away. Nevertheless, it is a matter of time before someone can adapt to the humidity. I don’t know how people survived the heat before air conditioning was invented because summer, especially in the months of July and August, is unbearable. Apart from those two months, I think the weather of the rest of the year is amazing. I must say that this year, winter has been colder than normal but the good news is that it has been short lived.

Something that always makes my wife nervous is the tornados. She is originally from New Mexico and tornados are seldom ever seen in that part of the country. We have never experienced one, even though they were common in Iowa and frequently experienced here in Texas. They have come close to us and we have had to go to storm shelters on many occasions. In all of the years we have been in and out of Texas, we have not experienced anything like one and hope we never will.

In general, Tyler and east Texas have very nice, balanced weather that encourages and invites people to stay. It is combined with the friendly faces of its people which we have happily experienced for many years already.
