Crossroads Retreat Center is located in Lindale. It is situated on a lovely 15 acre home site which has largely preserved the natural setting of the Piney Woods of East Texas. The interior grounds are beautifully landscaped with an abundance of color in the spring and summer months. Guests marvel at the array of color provided by the many Dogwood trees, Azaleas , Crepe Myrtle trees, Hydrangeas and more. Often guest are seen taking a stroll on the interior roads taking in the beauty of landscaped gardens.

As far as the ammenities of the two retreat centers located in this lovely setting, there are two separate premier retreat centers available at Crossroads Retreat Center. Both are unique in that they offer the beautiful “homey” atmosphere of a bed and breakfast, yet they accommodate up to 40 guests who come for various types of group retreats. Among the most popular types of retreats hosted at Crossroads, are scrapbookers, quilters, women’s church groups, bridge players, and school and corporate training seminars.

The individual guests who come to Crossroads experience a few days of being totally pampered. Delicious, home cooked meals are prepared and served. The lodging is superior with comfortable, individual beds in lovely bedrooms, each with its own unique decor. The retreat rooms are spacious and well lighted. Everything a retreat group would need is available from an abundance of 6′ tables, comfortable task chairs, separate guest refrigerator and snack table, TV, DVD and CD player.

The Main Retreat Center is specifically designed for groups of 15 – 30 guests and the smaller Victory
Retreat Center is specifically designed for groups of 8 – 10. While weekend retreats are the most popular at Crossroads, weekday retreats are offered in both centers.

It is not uncommon for groups who once experience the hospitality and fabulous accommodations at Crossroads to want to return time and time again. The owners tell us that most of the groups have come back year after year, many coming as much as two to three times each year. These guests, they tell us, have become like family. A phrase often heard by guests upon their arrival at Crossroads is “We’re home!”

The owners strive to give all their guests a truly relaxing and refreshing (and often very productive) time away their busy, hectic lives. Guests seldom walk away from Crossroads without fully experiencing those things to the fullest!

S.S.T. School of Summer Training

January 12th, 2010

S.S.T. stands for School of Summer Training and is a program that is available through YWAM Texas located in Lindale, Texas near Tyler TX. This is a program where teens can go and have a lot of fun while learning about God. It is a summer program and it’s a couple of weeks long. You have one week sessions of classes and lots of fun and the other week you go on an outreach to Mexico usually.

It is an excellent way to spend your summer and make sure your children are in a good environment and are learning good moral things. S.S.T. concentrates on teaching the children how to have a relationship with God and make decisions based on God’s word and not just their emotions. It is also an opportunity for them to find new friends that have similar goals in life and love God and are trying to figure out what His will is for their life.

I don’t think there is anything more exciting in life than to know that your children love God and are walking in His ways and that they don’t live to please man…but to please God. At the same time it’s not just all about work and no fun. While they are there, they end up having lots of fun activities for the children.

For parents who are looking for a good place for your children to go for the summer I would encourage you to look into Summer School of Training and see if it would be something that your teen might enjoy. While they are out having fun that will give you the parent an opportunity to spend time doing some of the things that you could not do if your children were at home. Your children will be in good hands and there is nothing to worry about because the staff is great and loves working with your children.

Their hearts are for your children in making sure they know God and make Him known to others. Christian counselors are their to teach and help them learn how to make better decisions in life. This program will better equip your children to be able to go out and face the world full on because they will know the truth about some of the things that are out there and are a danger for your children. I can truly say that it would be a blessing to have your children go to one of the Summer Training Programs that YWAM has going through out the summer each year.

Living Alternatives – Father Heart Ministry

January 9th, 2010

Father Heart is located in Lindale, Texas, Garden Valley. It is a ministry for pregnant women who find themselves pregnant and no where to go without anyone to help. It is a non profit ministry and their mission is to help the girls that are in need get help and to save the life of their babies also.

Father Heart is a loving place that can help when you find yourself in a place trapped because of the choices you have made and are left pregnant and wondering what in the world do you do next. Father Heart can help you make a decision that is the most loving for you and your baby no matter what the circumstance is. You can find loving people there who are there to help you figure out things for yourself and share getting your life back on track. You also have an opportunity to continue working on your degree while you prepare for the most important decision of your life.

Father Heart offers counseling also for the girls and courses of care for you while you are there. It helps you decide whether you want to parent your baby or place your baby for adoption, which both choices are loving and hard at the same time. I know this because 10 years ago I chose to place my baby through Father Heart and it was the hardest decision I ever had to make in my life at that time.

Even though its a loving decision it does not make it easy. On the other hand choosing to parent a baby is also hard. But no matter what you choose to do the staff at Father Heart will help you with your decisions. If you choose to keep your baby they help you get ready for mothering and if you choose to place, your baby they help you find a loving family that will love you and your baby. I will recommend Father Heart to anyone who is in need of help because they found themselves in unplanned pregnancy. While you are there you have the opportunity of meeting girls your age going through the same things you are going through.

The staff there are loving and there to help with anything that is needed. It is a very large beautiful home with a swimming pool and a large place for walking around and getting some exercise. You usually share a room with another person and the bedrooms are luxurious, better than some hotels I have been around.

If you happen to need a place or you know of anyone who needs a place to be while going through their pregnancy then Father Heart is the place to be around loving people who care for you and want to help you make the best loving decision for yourself and for your baby. If anyone who is in need of help and they are in a crisis pregnancy please tell them of the offer that Father Heart provides for them and their baby.

Tyler YWAM – Youth With A Mission

January 9th, 2010

Tyler YWAM Youth with a Mission is located in Lindale, Texas. For those of you who don’t know what YWAM is or what it stands for I will tell you. It is a christian organization that loves God and wants to make God known through out the nations.

YWAM Tyler has a variety of schools you can choose from. Their philosophy is to know God and to make him known. It has over 15 schools you can choose from depending on your interests. It is a place where you can be temporary or long term depending on your choosing. It is a place where you can go and learn about God, his nature and character.

You learn how to hear His voice and how to cultivate a relationship with the Creator of the Universe. I know that there are some people out who are slandering this ministry. The way I see it there will always be people who choose to see and believe the things that they want to about a particular place or person. The truth of the matter is that in YWAM you can only find people who love God and want to do His will above all else.

It offers Discipleship school where you learn who God is and who you are in Him.

You have about five months for this school. Three months you spend in class having lectures and the rest you spend out on mission teams ministering to people who need help in all nations depending where you feel that God called you.

It also provides for you S.O.E. which is School of Evangelism, English as a second Language, School of Arts, Mobile Teams. Living alternatives is also a YWAM ministry which offers help to pregnant women or teens that need help and don’t know the next step to take. It is the most loving place where you can be. I know that because I myself went there 10 years ago when I ended up pregnant and alone and nowhere to go.

Father Heart helped me make the best decision for my baby. I also did a D.T.S. which is a discipleship school with YWAM and loved it.

My outreach was in Japan. So I got to go see another culture and share God’s love with them at the same time. I also went and did School of the Bible through YWAM which changed my life. I have forgotten about the Father Heart of God. For awhile I backslid and decided that being out in the world was more fun than being tied down to some religious thing. Boy was I wrong, it only brought me a world of pain.

In the end, YWAM was the safest and most loving environment I have ever been around. People there care for your well being and their goal is for you to know God and have a loving relationship with God. I know that there are alot of hings people are saying about YWAM which are not true. Either those people have never been there or they have and got in trouble and are angry at the ministry for having to leave because they would not comply with the rules. You can always find people that have something negative to say.

The truth is that YWAM is a place where people love God with their whole heart and then made it their life’s mission to make God known and to win souls over to Christ. But just like any other ministry of course, you are working with people that are not perfect and things won’t always go your way. In fact you can bet that things won’t go your way. But it’s worth leaving things behind to find out God’s heart for you and others. I would encourage everyone who has not visited YWAM Lindale, Texas to do so and discover for themselves that it is a place where people gather together to serve God and learn more about Him and make Him known to the world.

There is so much more I could say but I will choose to end now so it won’t get too long and people decide not to read this article.
