Where is the Tyler Texas Halloween Store This Year?

August 25th, 2011

Spirit Halloween Costumes in Tyler

If you go down Broadway across from Discount Tire there is this furniture store with a gold painted roof. The store was called Tiny Treasures or something like that. There you will find the new Spirit Halloween store.

This store has it all, kids costumes, adult costumes, costumes for your dog. Keep in mind if you wait until the last minute most of the good costumes will be gone. Also these stores are kind of expensive and the masks probably have little kid and big kid/adult snot on them by the time it gets further on into October.

If you want to save money go ahead and shop for Halloween costumes online but we all know Spirit Halloween is in town only because they know better then many of us that we will procrastinate until the last minute.

I usually go into this store and buy some fake blood or something like that and just look around at all the gruesomeness. It’s fun just looking in there but I probably won’t be buying any masks or adult costumes and we are more likely to make my sons costume than to buy it at a store.

As a side note you may save a little money on your Halloween costume by going by the Card and Party Factory over by Super 1 Foods across from Casa Ole and Chick-Fil-a.

Adults Having More Fun With Halloween

Spirit Halloween Adult Costumes

Here in the last few years, the Tyler Texas market has seen somewhat of a change regarding Halloween. More adults are now starting to get involved again with the tradition. Until just recently, Halloween was thought of as more of a kid’s tradition that focused solely on children’s costumes.

Things have now started to change and adults are starting to have a little more fun than they use to. The market has actually seen a thirty percent increase in adult costumes over the last couple of years. This is because adults are starting to have a better time dressing up and enjoying the holiday.

Maybe we have seen this increase because there is more stress in the workplace, so people want to take the chance to relax. The celebration of Halloween is different with adults than children. Adult costumes do not focus so much on movies and superheroes. Adult costumes have become increasingly more showy and sexy. I for one will dress up like a sexy ape this Halloween for maybe 5 minutes and that is about as sexy as I am going to get.

I dress as an ape because for once a year I like many adults want to relax and really show my sexy ape side of me and my awesome costume and have a good time. This new tradition is starting to make Halloween more fun for all age groups again. Adults are starting to get together more as a group to celebrate the tradition.

Believe it or not, sexy types of outfits have been the leading costumes for adults over the past couple of years for Tyler Texas Halloween costume shoppers. So there is proof in the pudding that we as adults are starting to enjoy the holidays a little more than we used to.

At the same time there are a lot of awkward moments as you see a teenage daughter of a friend from church in a catholic school girl outfit way to small for their body and they aren’t even catholic.

Boo at the Zoo! Halloween at Caldwell

October 30th, 2010

In the last few years since Tyler TX Directory has come under new ownership, a lot has been written about Tyler’s Caldwell Zoo. The zoo has been a worthy point of pride for Tylerites since its founding in 1953. Ever since that time the institution has grown steadily, all the while offering any number of educational programs to area youth and families.

The East Texas climate makes spring and fall the best times of the year to visit the zoo. What better way to spend a beautiful autumn weekend then packing up the boy and strolling through the park like- grounds of the Caldwell Zoo? Well, it seems I wasn’t the only one to whom this thought occurred today. Saturday, October thirtieth was the zoo’s Boo at the Zoo Halloween party. Everywhere there were parents and children in every imaginable Halloween costume. Zoo employees where around every bend handing out candy to young visitors, and letting patrons get up close and personal with animals more in keeping with the Halloween spirit, particularly snakes, spiders, reptiles and other critters.

I don’t exactly remember my last visit but it seems every time I go I find something new. Whether the exhibits I find are actually new or simply new to me, I can’t be sure but it always adds to my experience to observe the zoo’s growth. This time I discovered (or re

discovered, whichever the case may be), the Penguin tanks. I don’t know too many folks who would fail to be entertained by the show they put on. I have to say however that my favorite stop remains the Chakula Café. In cooler weather it’s an ideal spot to sit, read and take in the view of the African exhibit. Add a good cup of coffee to that by the way and you have the makings of a pretty fine day.

Today’s event was a great idea. It gave parents a memorable way to celebrate Halloween with younger children, in a safe family friendly environment. Even better, it’s educational! For those who missed Boo at the Zoo, don’t worry. You haven’t missed autumn. There’s plenty of time to enjoy fall at the Caldwell Zoo. For more info on the zoo and its upcoming events, visit their web site at www.caldwellzoo.org, or see any of the many other articles on this site by clicking on the Zoos listing to the right of this article.

Tyler Texas Haunted House

Terror Nights Haunted House
816 E. Oakwood St.
Tyler, TX 75702
Between East Commerce Street and North Beverly Avenue

Phone: 903-363-3291

Website: http://www.terrornightshaunt.com/

Someone named Sheri wrote a really negative review about this haunted house in Tyler on Google Places, she said

“My experience to your haunted house was definitely a nightmare. I was pushed out the exit doors and got to spend the night in the ER with 30 stiches”

I have not been to this haunted house before but it seems to be sponsored by a ton of big companies including the Spirit Halloween costume store.

A veteran actor and employee posted a 5 star positive review back stating that her review of this haunted house is a lie.

So we have a one 1 star review and one 5 star review from an employee, hmm which one should we listen too?

The Terror Nights Haunted House is touted to be a very safe experience by the veteran employee responding to Sheri.

The employee mentioned that this year they installed a top of the line fire safety system. Terror Nights has safety exit doors in every room and they train their employees to keep a watchful eye while scaring you at the same time.

Although this employee says Sheri is a liar the employee also states that they are sorry if the incidents she claimed happened really did happen.

The employee goes on to say some of the things in her review however ring false.

I am a safety conscience person and would personally like to know what in Sheris review is false. It would be helpful to know if the 30 stitches was needed because of a gash from the Terror Nights Haunted House or something else.

My conclusion in regards to all this injury drama is that I will definitely be scared if I go through Terror Nights Haunted House regardless how good or bad the acting and costumes might be.

Voodoo Halloween

Voodoo Halloween over by South Broadway Wal-Mart

About a month before Halloween you will see a couple different Halloween costume stores open up in Tyler.

One of these costume stores will be quite a bit cheaper than the other one. I recommend doing a little price comparison before settling on a costume to save a bundle.

I also noticed that there are quite a few Halloween costumes over by Super 1 Foods in the Dollar General Card and Party store.

The two Halloween stores show up at different spots each year based on what large square footage area is available for rent.

Last year the old Linens and Things building by Ross was used for one of these Halloween stores. What you see a lot of in both stores are the bedroom costumes.

What I mean by bedroom costumes are the catholic school girl outfits, the skimpy nurse, the mens extra short shorts UPS worker outfit, and the list goes on and on.

It can be pretty funny during the Halloween holiday as you see the teeny boppers walking around town in these bedroom outfits.

These kids “try to hard parents buy these costumes” for their kids sometimes so just maybe they will be seen as the “cool parent”. It’s amazing what parents will do to be accepted by their children these days.

This year rather than buying a bedroom costume for your already confused teenager I recommend giving them some face paint and have them decorate some of their old clothes.

If you want to buy a Halloween mask in Tyler Texas I recommend buying it online rather than purchasing in the store as it may come with some little kid boogers.

The first one of these Halloween costume stores in Tyler we have seen just popped up over by South Broadway Wal-Mart and it is called Voodoo Halloween. Go by and check it out.

Tyler TX Halloween stores typically open around Labor Day. (also Labour Day in Canada), but this varies by a week or two in either direction…4 September 2010
