Local Italian, Relaxed Atmosphere

January 8th, 2010

Little Italy in Tyler Texas
Some of the best Italian in Tyler can be found at the corner bistro, Little Italy’s. Located at 3320 South Broadway where it has been for many years this restaurant continues to serve authentic Italian in a relaxed casual environment.

Little Italy’s is a great stop for either a family dinner or a business lunch. It’s all about the food here, as opposed to atmosphere. You won’t find violinists playing Italian love songs for moonstruck patrons. What you will find is great food at reasonable prices.

The Lasagna and spaghetti at Little Italty are both unbeatable but their signature dish would have to be the calzone. Packed with cheese and sausage it’s the best calzone in town. But don’t come to Italy’s expecting the Olive Garden or Johnny Carino’s.
Carino's
This is more of a local joint where regulars have a “usual.” They also offer take out for that quick stop off on your way home from work. If you won’t bad quality recipes we recommend Olive Garden. If you want good food and an extra long hour wait for that food than go to Johnny Carino’s.

So next time you find you have craving for great Italian without calling ahead, try this local spot. Before you know it, you’ll find that you have a “usual.”

Keeping Cool On A Summer Night

January 8th, 2010

If you’re looking for a way to cool off this summer, Andy’s custard is a great option. A visit to Andy’s to Andy’s is a part of the summer experience in Tyler. The outdoor 1950s small town feel only adds to the appeal.

They say you can always find good food by looking for the longest lines. If this is true, then Andy’s is a sure bet. By the end of the week a crowd gathers for an Andy’s concrete, (a blend of frozen custard with assorted toppings). The group mills around on the summer evenings socializing and enjoying their custard. It’s an interesting cross section of people who gather there, everyone from area youth groups to weekend Harley riders. They’re all down at Andy’s.

So next time your group is looking for summer evening out, stop by, have a frozen custard and hang out at Andy’s. You’ll probably see someone you know.

Breakfast at 3

November 10th, 2009

Pancakes, eggs and bacon for dinner? Or steak and fries for breakfast? At the International House Of pancakes (IHOP) you get the freedom of choice.

Most of the times I have gone to IHOP there is a line out the door. The “A” shaped building is a land mark for fresh, thick, fluffy pancakes. The obnoxious commercials stick with you, so when you are in the mood for the stuffed French toast with strawberries and cool whip, you know to go straight to your town’s IHOP.

You never quite know what kind of service you will get from IHOP. I was impressed the most resent time I visited the breakfast paradise, when our waitress remembered our table’s entire order with out writing it down. I do not think I could remember one person’s order, no less a party of six. There have been other times that I have gone there and have had terrible services, when the waiter forgot have our orders or took forever to bring the food out.

IHOP has added so many items onto their already long menu. They have been advertising the dinner items. I prefer to enjoy the wonderful breakfast items rather than the less than decent dinner items. Watch for great deals, and new delicious food. One of the most famous breakfast deals in Tyler is IHOP’s unending pancakes. On each table there is a delicious selection of fruit or hazelnut or maple syrup.

When I go to IHOP, I usually get the same thing and I am always satisfied with my meal. IHOP does not just have a long menu, great prices and good food, but you always get your money’s worth. Meals are huge served with a large side of eggs made your way, and bacon or sausage, and a huge pile of hash browns. I don’t think I have ever finished eating a meal there.

So stop by and enjoy a coffee and a huge breakfast, anytime of the day, and since it is opened 24 hours, anytime of the night.
