Fidgeting at the Office Can Be a Form of Exercise

October 7th, 2011

Are you a fidgety person? The funny thing is that by fidgeting you can actually burn a significant amount of calories each day. What I am talking about here are things like crossing and uncrossing your legs, making up and down movements in your chair, spinning from side to side in a chair, stretching and standing often, and just being an overall restless individual. This fidgety person being described pretty much fits me to a T. I get my work done but I like to fidget, it just comes natural and thankfully it burns a significant amount of calories daily.

The study done that measured calorie loss through fidgeting involved feeding the subjects in the study 1,000 extra calories every day for 8 weeks. Once these people started eating the snacks some of them immediately began fidgeting to burn the extra calories without even realizing it. Almost 33 percent of the thousand calories that were eaten were burned off from fidgeting and restless behavior. The remaining calories left were deposited as fat.

The people in this 8 week study gained anywhere from 2 pounds to 16 pounds but those people that were fidgety at their office desk gained the least amount of fat. There is definitely something positive to be said for the fidgety person you sit next to at your office. Maybe it is you or maybe not but consider that standing up at your desk and stretching every once in awhile can be a really good thing especially if you are a snacker.

In summary you can expect to burn about 330 calories a day from fidgeting at your office desk if you are anything like me. Unfortunately if you eat a snickers bar and drink a coke everyday you aren’t really making any headway. If you fidget your body is simply trying to tell you that you are an active person and you need to get out an do something to shed off some of that activity. What I will do is take a 45 minute break during my lunch hour and go over to XTC Fitness in Tyler and do their noon kickboxing group class. I probably burn 1,000 calories or so in the group class each day and it further assists in burning calories as well as building a little muscle. Consider that for every pound of muscle you put on to your body that muscle will automatically burn an additional 35 – 50 calories a day even if you sat and didn’t fidget at all. So whether you fidget or don’t fidget you can always stay active and the XTC gym is my preferred choice to do that.

Texas Rangers not allowed to put midget on their team

January 23rd, 2011

Texas Rangers are not allowed to draft or recruit midgets to play on their baseball team.

Due to a rule established in 1951 when the St. Louis Browns were able to obtain an easy walk by placing a midget at the plate to bat this trick is no longer an option.

So power sluggers like Josh Hamilton, Michael Young, and Kinsler will have to make things happen at the plate in more conventional ways and forget about using midgets to gain extra runs.

What do you think? Is this a bad discriminatory baseball rule? Is this rule similar to women not being allowed in some states to be firefighters because of weak upper body strength?

When are discrimentory laws and rules crossing the line into the realm of lunacy politically correct liberal land? Even many midgets and women can understand why rules and laws like these exist but PR propaganda has a strangle hold on about half the population in America.

Are You Ready to Move Your Elderly Relative into Your Tyler, Texas Home?

Tyler Texas Elderly Care

Elder Care in Tyler TX

Do you have an elderly relative that, while still mobile and mentally alert, is having some issues that you feel require the relative to have more supervision? If you are feeling that this relative needs someone around more often than not, it may cross your mind to invite this elderly relative to move into your home with your family in Tyler, Texas. But is this a good idea?

First of all, consider the amount of space you have in your house. Is there enough space for this relative to have their own bedroom? What about the number of bathrooms in the home? Is there at least one that can be converted to a bathroom for your elderly relative to use and bathe in safety? Also, you must consider how the rest of your family gets along with this relative. If any of these questions are answered in a negative light, you may want to reconsider this particular living arrangement in favor of something a bit different but just as safe.

On the other hand, if you have an extra bedroom in your Tyler, Texas home that isn’t really being used, as well as a bathroom that can be outfitted with tub rails and a toilet chair, you could be in business. Add to that the fact that your family adores this relative and would love to have them as an integral part of the household and it may be the ideal arrangement. Now you only have to convince the elderly relative that it’s the perfect idea.

School Of The Bible YWAM Tyler Texas

January 8th, 2010

School of the Bible is a one year course that is available for you through YWAM. YWAM stands for the Ministry of Youth with a Mission and is located in Tyler, Texas near the airport. The course will go in depth into studying the Bible and learning Greek so you can better understand what the Bible is saying. You will learn about apologetics and thermanectics.

I know these are new words for some, but the school teaches you about all these things and more. It gives you a new perspective on how to read and better understand and apply the Bible to your everyday life. The Bible course is accredited through Eclesia which is located in Arkansas. You will earn 35 credits when you are finished with the course.

Basically it is like going to any college that you choose, only here you get to skip the two years that you have to take Math, English, etc and allows you to get straight to the point of studying the exact thing you want without wasting any time having to take courses that you are not interested in.

I am not saying in any way that there is anything wrong with going through a regular college and taking all the extra classes if that is what you are required to get your degree. I am just merely stating that if you are looking to get closer to God and better understand how to read and understand what the Bible has to say to you personally or about history, the world or any other area of your life than YWAM may your fit.

I took the course and I loved it, because I just wanted to get to know God better and be able to enjoy reading the Bible coming from a right perspective. The staff is excellent and fun, and loving and always ready to help in any area that you may need.

If you choose to go ahead and do the school your tuition will include room and board and yes three meals per day. And if all that is not enough to convince you to join, you get to meet lots of new people just like you who are there to learn about God or work towards getting a degree.

While making friends you are also getting to study and learn more about God’s nature and God’s character. For some it is also a break from real life. Not that this is not considered real life.

To me, doing something like this is like taking a vacation because I will be learning about things that I am passionate about, so it makes it way easier to get up every morning and face the day. So the next time you are wondering what is the next step for you in life, you should consider School of the Bible at the Tyler Texas YWAM base on Christian Heritage campus…it may be exactly what you are looking for.
