Little Italy is a staple of Tyler cuisine. Little Italy has brought authentic and delicious Italian food to East Texas and Tyler has been hooked ever since.
This small white building on Broadway appears understated in comparison to the quality of food served inside. The staff will serve you promptly and politely, bringing out warm buttery bread while you make your selections and checking back attentively throughout the entire meal to be sure your needs are met.
Browsing the menu will assuredly spark your appetite but if you are unsure of what to try I suggest the Chicken Florentine or my favorite the Fettuccine Alfredo both of which come with a crisp yet simple salad to warm up your pallet for the incoming fine food.
Lasagna is definitely a specialty of Little Italy, every time I have it I am surprised by the robust flavor and general taste of authenticity that Little Italy is known for. For such a genuine Italian experience it makes you wonder why Little Italy doesn’t serve wine, a well known tradition in Italin food and fine dining.
But in spite of the restaurant being dry Little Italy considers and understands the enjoyment of wine with a fine Italian meal and so the customers are welcome to bring in their own bottles to enjoy with their meal. After your entree you might take into account the selection of fine desserts available for your delectation. Little Italy is a Tyler gem that brings culture and extraordinary food all the way from Italy and into are small grateful town.

Currents is a small restaurant hidden away next to Tyler Junior College. I wanted to throw a small private party, but I wanted it to be elegant and something different. We called the restaurant for information of how they serve their guests and what they do for parties. I was extremely impressed with the options that the owner laid out for me. Although I could not afford some of the options that he gave me he was still extremely generous. He allowed me to meet with him about having a specialty menu that I got to pick out.
I went to the small Tyler restaurant and he showed me around. Up stairs the dinning rooms are very formal with a nice deck and out side seating. Down stairs is another dinning area, which is not as nice and had very dim lighting. I was kind of disappointed in the set up of the place, because it was not very welcoming. The down stairs dinning area was reserved for my party and fit about twenty people in it. The service was extremely personal and private. I ordered the veal to start which was perfectly tender and amazingly tasteful. Although I had to live through the gasps of my young cousins when they heard I was eating a “baby cow”, it was very good.
They were kind enough to serve three dishes that I had asked for as a special menu, and everyone seemed like they enjoyed the food. We were read the amazing different desserts that all sounded great and were dipped in chocolate and drizzled in raspberry sauce. I tried the chocolate moose cake with raspberry sauce. It was a revelation. The rich taste danced in every bite. I am usually not a big fan of dark chocolate but this creamy cake that melted in my mouth was amazing. Everything was perfect but the check was rather large. But that is coming from a person who’s view of eating out is Chili’s or Chick-fil-a. I had an amazing time and both the food and service were definitely excellent. I will keep going to Currents, but I will just have to wait for that pay check to come in.

China King, Tyler, Texas is located at 4542 S Broadway Ave and it’s a Chinese Restaurant buffet style. If you enjoy Asian food and you like lots of varieties, then you should go to China King. Going there for me is easy and convenient and I enjoy being able to select all kinds of food choices. They have a salad bar that boasts lots of good salad selections. They have a meat and veggie table that has fried rice, noodles, shrimp, sushi and a good selection of desserts. Soft drinks are also available for you for a small price. Anytime you are in a hurry, but enjoy trying new foods, then the China King is the place for you.
The quality of service and price will fit your budget. From my experience $25.00 will feed two people easily. I love the idea of not having to wait for your food to get prepared and just being able to go and eat right away…especially if you are starved. There is no limit on how much you can eat while you are there. You can go back as many times as you want.
The best thing is at the end of the meal when you get one of those fortune cookies. Those are always fun but of course, I don’t take it seriously, I just enjoy seeing what I get and then add something at the end of the saying and that makes it funnier.

Rockwell’s Coffee Brewery
Lindale’s coffee shop, Rockwells, may not live up to the taste of Starbucks but it is the most popular coffee shop in the Lindale area. It is a great place to hang out with your friends. Nearby in Mount Sylvan is an even more interesting Coffee Shop known as Mount Sylvan Coffee and Mercantile that is also worth checking out.
Enjoy a hot cup of coffee, or one of the “classics” such as a latte, cappuccino or espresso. The drink menu may not be as long as Starbucks’ but you will be able to find something that you want. For the non coffee drinkers Rockwells offers different teas and Fruit drinks. Also if you are hungry they serve snacks, desserts, and even meals. Come enjoy a sandwich or salad in a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere.
The artsy atmosphere makes it comfortable to hang out. Couches and comfortable chairs helps when you are trying to get that midterm paper done, or to play games with your family or friends. Friday and Saturdays there is live music. Games are available there to make your visit more enjoyable.
