Southside Bank in Tyler TX and obtaining a business loan

January 24th, 2011

Southside Bank Tyler TX Banks
Southside Bank is considered to be the most convenient bank in Tyler TX because they are in just about every grocery store in town and they are scattered throughout the city in several much larger facilities. Their recent billboard campaigns encourage you to use them for family loans for things like vacations and old antique cars. I have tried getting a loan for an antique car before and let me tell you if you want to see a bank loan officer give you a blank stare just ask the question about a loan for an antique car, very few know if this type of loan is even possible accept for the uber wealthy.

Southside Bank Locations in Tyler and Phone Numbers

  • 1201 South Beckham Avenue, Tyler – (903) 526-8682
  • 6201 South Broadway Avenue, Tyler – (903) 581-9773
  • 113 N Northwest Loop 323, Tyler – (903) 535-4463

Southside Bank has been around Tyler TX for some time and most who have lived here for awhile have noticed how well they have spread themselves out over the city.

They have not only created large brand new facilities going out as far as Lindale TX but they have gotten into almost every Brookshires grocery store in town as well.

Southside Bank also happens to be in the SuperOne food Store on Hwy 110. When visiting the Southside Bank website it looks a little old school when logging into their online banking but the functionality is all there.

I have been pleased with the online banking this far as I can easily check my bank account on my computer or iphone. I have made transfers between accounts through their online system on my phone as well.

When talking about loans with Southside Bank I have had great conversations with one loan officer there while another one sort of gave me as little information as possible.

As you can imagine banks get asked by thousands of people a year for loans and many of these people simply have no credit and have done no research in regards to a business plan or how a business idea may succeed.

When you walk into Southside Bank asking for a loan you need to come with an easily understood business plan. Although it is good to have a complete business plan with figures to back it up a loan officer will usually glance over one page that outlines what it is you want to do and make their mind up for there.

A trick to getting a loan for a business idea is to visit 100 banks if you have to. Tweak and redefine your business plan and make it easy to read. Be a pleasant person to talk to and don’t come across as begging the loan officer.

One last few bits of advice is to attempt ahead of time to establish some kind of business credit.

There used to be the things called pass book checking accounts in the old days but these are no more. The pass book account allowed businesses to slowly build up credit.

A better way to build up business credit is to buy a CD (Certificate of Deposit) at the bank you are trying establish a reputation at and take a loan out on that CD.

Pay the CD off over a few years time and never be late in making your payments on that loan. Once your business loan is paid off you will have a better credit score to use in getting that business loan.

Also try opening up a cell phone business account using your tax id as this will assist in building business credit. Go out to mint.com and find a good low interest business credit card and apply for that as well. By having the credit card, bank loan, and cell phone account you will be establishing credit using 3 different business accounts, just don’t be late on your payments.

If you haven’t already you will need to setup an LLC which will allow you to get a tax id to establish credit on. Rather than building up credit on your personal social security number you need to build up business credit. Go out to legalzoom.com and they can automate much of the tasks involved in setting up a new Limited Liability Company. You will get a tax id that you can use to open up a business banking account.

Be sure to buy that CD and take a loan out on that CD using your business tax id number and not your social security number so that you are building business credit and not personal credit.

Jason Garrett the new head coach for the Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys Head Coach

Dallas Cowboys Head Coach

Jason Garrett is now the new head coach of the Dallas Cowboys.

Keep in mind he has been a star offensive coordinator for the Dallas Cowboys for many years.

He gave up several NFL team head coach offers to remain offensive coordinator.

Now that Jason is head coach it should make for some very interesting conversations as this has been a “what if” scenario for some time.

If Jason proves to do what many think he can he will finally settle the debate about whether he has what it takes to make the Cowboys into a great team.

I think this change will be good for the Dallas Cowboys and will give people another readon to continue their interest in watching the Cowboys try and change things around.

Obama Gave Cookie Cutter Bland Speech To America

August 31st, 2010
Obama Not a Favorite Among Military

Did you just touch me?

Obama said muddled during conversations with the military in Texas, that because of the U.S. efforts in the Iraq war, “America is more secure.”

During his speech he taunted these same military by saying that the war was a mistake. He refused to admit that the surge was a success and he used cloudy messages to continue his message that we should have never been in Iraq.

In his next breath he explained of his continued war path in Afghanistan as if although opposed to war for some reason the war in Afghanistan is much better than what we did in Iraq?

House Republican leader John Boehner said that congressional leaders who opposed the troop surge that led to advances in Iraq are now taking credit for it. Obama didn’t go so far as to take credit for success in Iraq but continues to refuse to admit that the surge did in fact work after he stated before that it would never work.

Now he acts as if the public believes this flip flop nonsense of some how the Iraq war was morally wrong but the Afghanistan war is right? Are we supposed to just believe him on this because of his supposed superior intellect or are people ready to admit that this guy is a fraud?

I am not so sure taking military forces out of Iraq is a good idea at this point although 50,000 US military will remain however secretive the left has tried to make this fact. The truth is we are still in Iraq and will likely need to be there awhile longer unless we want all those lives waisted in vain because of Obama now preferring the war in Afghanistan over the Iraq war.

I believe most of us in Tyler Texas understand that Obama and many of his leftist radicals are deceivers and Marxist enemy’s of traditional American values like the pursuit of each individual citizen to to have life, liberty, and happiness without being lumped into a large socialistic mass of people to provide a Utopian fairness.

This type of political system that the leftist government feeds the public is soaked up by easily manipulated young idealistic kids, people who believe they are smarter than most because of their masters degree, and many who take medication because of psychotic mental problems.

Obama’s speech was boring and everything I thought it would be. He made it perfectly bland not too far in either direction while making a hard stand on some of the things he simply can no longer back down from at this point in the game.

For the future, let’s hope our country sees good liberty loving American’s voted back into office and both liberal Republicans and liberal Democrats careers dried up for good.

The Tyler Suddenlink Saga Ends

May 14th, 2010

For those readers who’ve been following my Tyler Texas Suddenlink saga I would like to offer this afterward. (Sorry Donny, I just want to be sure to offer our readers some proper closure). I eventually contacted the Suddenlink rep who offered to assist me in negotiating a better deal on my cable and internet service. After pulling teeth to get to talk with someone with decision making authority, I appreciated that a representative of the company was taking an interest in my case. Fortunately, most of the conversations took place via e-mail as well, so as not to take up any more of my time. The central problem I had was that each person I spoke to seemed to tell me something different. (I must have talked to five or six different people). This seems to be symptomatic of dealing with a large company like Suddenlink, with so many separate departments and entities, that they tend to function like separate businesses. The trick is to find someone who can cut through all little bureaucracies and make a definitive decision. Admittedly this is much easier said than done.

After a couple of emails I was told that a local supervisor would contact me to discuss my service. I spoke to the local super briefly over the phone and we came to an agreement. First off she compensated me for my time. Secondly, she offered to look at my account and see whether or not I could be given the advanced tier like I was originally offered by the disembodied voice I spoke of in my last article. As it turned out she was unable to offer that package at my current rate, but she did offer me thirty days free trial. I thanked her but declined. I’d rather not get used to having the additional channels and then have to either let them go or start paying eleven dollars a month more for them. With my tendency toward procrastination, I’d probably just end up keeping them. So in the end I didn’t get everything I wanted but at least I received satisfaction.

What does the future hold for Suddenlink and me? Long term it’s difficult to say. Having found some people there who are willing to assist me has made it easier to consider sticking it out and acquiring additional services over the long haul. If my service continues as it is now, I may be a Suddenlink customer for a while. To review my story, look for the following titles in this order, on this site: Direct TV or Suddenlink, Which One, Hard to Decide Hmmm? and Suddenlink Internet Service in Tyler Texas.
