Find or Refer a Contractor in Tyler

Facebook Myspace avatar artwork for those who detest Obama

November 14th, 2010

I found this great avatar to use as your Facebook or Myspace avatar artwork for a profile perhaps.

As you may know Obama personally hired several outspoken marxist and communists to be czars in hos administration.

Van Jones was hired as the Green Jobs czar. When he wad exposed to be a communist party activist he was fired because he received too much bad publicity.

The Green Party is just a disguised name for the communist party. They hijack something as noble a pursuit as cleaning up pollution and the environment and hide communism in it.

They then call this “social justice” as a more acceptible concept to swallow by the masses while moving the country further towards socialistic and communistic ideas.

Many young people and college students are believing the lies with no grip on US and world history.

It is clear from those Obama hired in his administration that he is a spoke in the wheel towards the US turning away from capitalism and individual rights and freedom.

Tyler Junior College’s New Rules

September 22nd, 2010

There have been a lot of issues on the Tyler Junior College campus when it comes to gang related fights and robberies. The school campus is finally doing something about it. All students are required to wear their school identification card around their neck while they are on the school property. The security has also put up small fences on walls that gangs sat on and many fights broke out due to what gang sat where. All these fights seemed petty and pretty childish for college students. A lot of times guys would sit around the campus that are not students of Tyler Junior College, and many complaints have been made that these groups f guys would harass girls coming out of classes.

The rule of having to wear your identification bag has brought up some different feelings in students. I, personally, think that it is a great idea. I am sick of all the fights that break out by people hanging out around the school, only because they have no where better to be, and they are not students or involved with the school. The only complaints that I have heard about this rule is that people do not want to wear the identification cards because it does not match their clothes. You can pick out the apache freshmen when you walk into Wal-Mart and see them proudly wearing their id.

Another rule that Tyler Junior College has recently started to enforce is that the college campus has become smoke free. Although many times you can find students hiding behind buildings and in bushes, you now have to take the time to walk across the street to smoke.

Many students and staff have different opinions about these rules, but I think that the school is on their way to making the property a safer and cleaner campus.

Tyler Junior College the Largest Junior College in Texas

April 21st, 2010

Tyler Junior College is one of the biggest Junior colleges in the country. Everyone in Tyler knows about Tyler Junior College. Tyler Junior College is known for its three promises; 1. A quality education, 2. A Vibrant Student Life, and 3. Community Service. Tyler Junior College started in 1926. The student body was not much more than a few hundred.

In Tyler TJC has become more than just a college, sadly, it has become the hot hang out spot. Many times it seems that TJC has tried to sweep the crime that happens on the campus under the rug. If you just walk through the campus it is pretty obvious that there is a problem with gangs. Silly fights have broken out due to certain groups standing on other groups spot. It is ridiculous to walk through the campus and to hear the childish yelling. It is extremely annoying to hear the obnoxious hissing of men trying to get a girl’s attention. I think that the campus security is trying to deal with this issue but it never seems to really change.

Although there are really annoying things that happen at TJC, there are really great programs that give back to the community. There are many scholars programs at Tyler Junior College that allows students to receive extra credit and they are able to graduate with honors. These programs give the students opportunities to work in the community and to work along with charities in East Texas.

Tyler Junior College gives many people an opportunity to go to college when they come from a place that maybe their grades were not the best in high school, or if that they do not have very much money. TJC places their students according to a placement test, which tests the students reading, math, and English skills.

TJC does have great opportunities for all people, from successful sport programs and cheerleading to a great drama and music program. The two year college has allowed people to change their lives and have opportunities that they may not have found anywhere else.

Something Different In Education

January 8th, 2010

Well, the summer of 09 remains young, but August will be here before we know it, and if you’re considering a change in your child’s education its best not to procrastinate.

In 2004 King’s Academy Christian School opened its doors to approximately 30 students. In a town where numerous private schools have operated for decades, it seemed like contributing to an already flooded market, except that King’s offers a very unique learning experience. K.A.C.S. is a “University Model School,” meaning that, like a college, students sign up for the classes they require in order to graduate, and attend those classes three days out of the week. On the other days they work at home on assigned reading and research projects. Part of the purpose of the approach is to prepare the students for the independence of college life and studies. It also allows the parents to take a more proactive approach to their child’s education.

But King’s Academy is more than just a school with a funny schedule. It offers a full, rich student life. In fact, the three day schedule actually increases the opportunities for learning by allowing more field trips & out of town travel, both as school groups or individual families.

There are also electives including photography, yearbook, home economics and others. Athletics, always central to the student’s experience, includes football, volleyball, basketball and junior high soccer. In 2007- 2008 King’s won the state championship in six-man football.

In philosophy King’s is an unapologetically Christian School. In fact, involved families are required to attend the church of their choice. That being said, the school has students of all denominational backgrounds. Faith is central in each classroom, but particular theology is not.

The staff of King’s Academy is as unique as the school itself. It’s made up of retired Tyler Texas public and parochial school teachers, career private school educators and home school parents anxious to try something new. The result is a wonderful staff with a variety of educational experiences, whose first concern is the spiritual and academic well being of the student.

After five years, the spring semester ended at King’s with around 107 students and all signs point to continued growth and success. While the university approach may not be for every family, it could be for your family.
