The weather has made it time for snow cones once again and by that I mean shaved ice.
When I was a kid all we ever got was ground up chunks of ice and food coloring.
What you have here is very delicately thinly shaven sheets of ice that when fallen from the ice machine turns into soft snow. This shaven ice is like eating the fresh snow off Santa’s rooftop.
The snow balls are covered not just in food coloring but any of over about 100 different flavors to choose from.
I usually never get too experimental when it comes to snow cone flavors so I go with the traditional icecream, coconut, or the other flavor that tastes closest to sugar syrup.
My son and I went by the snow ball place at the Red Barn square shopping center. We both got icecream flavored snow cones and I could not believe how well this energy supplement boosted both me and my sons energy levels as well as increased brain function.

Little Italy is a staple of Tyler cuisine. Little Italy has brought authentic and delicious Italian food to East Texas and Tyler has been hooked ever since.
This small white building on Broadway appears understated in comparison to the quality of food served inside. The staff will serve you promptly and politely, bringing out warm buttery bread while you make your selections and checking back attentively throughout the entire meal to be sure your needs are met.
Browsing the menu will assuredly spark your appetite but if you are unsure of what to try I suggest the Chicken Florentine or my favorite the Fettuccine Alfredo both of which come with a crisp yet simple salad to warm up your pallet for the incoming fine food.
Lasagna is definitely a specialty of Little Italy, every time I have it I am surprised by the robust flavor and general taste of authenticity that Little Italy is known for. For such a genuine Italian experience it makes you wonder why Little Italy doesn’t serve wine, a well known tradition in Italin food and fine dining.
But in spite of the restaurant being dry Little Italy considers and understands the enjoyment of wine with a fine Italian meal and so the customers are welcome to bring in their own bottles to enjoy with their meal. After your entree you might take into account the selection of fine desserts available for your delectation. Little Italy is a Tyler gem that brings culture and extraordinary food all the way from Italy and into are small grateful town.

During the spring there comes adult softball season in Tyler TX which is played over at Lindsey Field.
Teams need a place to practice on the weekends and Lindsey Field is usually taken so then what do you do?
Faulkner Park is a good baseball park with smaller fields and in the Spring is also heavily used on the weekends. There are, however, some practice fields down below and over near the tennis courts.
We setup this Sunday at the Faulkner Park baseball practice fields. I worked on my batting, fielding, and under hand pitching as well as the rest of my team.
No one reserves these fields for practice as you find at Lindsey Park and so they are almost always available.
You will also find two very nice playgrounds for your kids. There is the splash park which has some pretty cool water spray action going on. It’s basically a toddler water park without a pool and risk of drowning. A traditional park is right next to it.
The other playground is in the middle of the park and has massive slides, a bridge, as well as tons of other stuff.
So if you are a baseball team or softball team looking for that long lost field no one uses for practice you just might find it at Faulkner at the bottom of a hill by the tennis courts. If your wife is not playing on your team she and your kids will have a blast at the park while you perfect your swing.

A small restaurant has been sitting on the side of Broadway for years. Little Italy brings a great taste of Italy to Tyler. They have a long menu of all different pastas, pizzas, calzones and much more. They have some of the greatest bread around. The restaurant has a “bring your own wine” policy. The food is great and the prices make the food even better.
Little Italy has a great lunch menu. You can choose between many different selections of hot pastas. Each of their pastas is hot and pretty delicious. The lunch menu all has the same low price everyday. If you are getting a side dish I always recommend the soups over the salad. The tortellini and cheese soup if one f my favorite soups of all time. Little Italy’s salads is nothing more that some lettuce and a couple tomatoes thrown in a bowl with a small cup of dressing.
If you are looking for a great place to have a big party without having to wait for an hour to get a seat, I recommend that you bring your party to Little Italy. The restaurant never seems to be over crowded or too busy. Some times it seems like it takes a while to get food to come out to you, but still the small Italian restaurant is a great place to have a private and intimate dinner.
