Andrews Center – Tyler

January 16th, 2010

Andrews Center is a Behavioral Health care System is located at 2323 W Front St., Tyler, Texas 75702.  Andrews Center is a non-profit charity, mental health and mental retardation center. They employ some of the best trained professionals in behavioral health care. I first found out about Andrews Center through the Salvation Army because they offer to take people that are there and in need of help to their center. I have actually been there myself once because of a report I once got from someone who thought I had some problems.

The staff there was very friendly and the wait was just about as long as any other doctor. When I was seen by a physician, she thoroughly evaluated me and came to the conclusion that the diagnosis that the other doctor gave was not true. What a relief to find out that I did not need any medication for something I didn’t have. I know it’s a scary thing to go to a mental place to find out if you are in need of any help in that area….but these days there are more people struggling mentally, emotionally, and physically than we would like to know. In addition to feeling awkward going there you may begin to think that there might be a problem with you and may become frustrated when you can’t figure out exactly what the problem is. The staff will make you feel comfortable as they determine if your are mentally unstable in some way.

In my opinion, we all are a little bit on the lonely side …we just don’t want to admit it because you feel you will be looked down upon and people won’t treat you the same. Just like any other illness you need to make sure you get the help necessary for you to start living life once again, like you used to. Andrews Center is very professional and nobody there will judge you for going there. Everything that they find out is very confidential. You don’t have to be afraid of people finding out about your issues.

Their mission is to serve the community to assure high quality, effective behavioral health care. You can be sure their value is provided in trying to recognize and affirm the dignity and worth of each individual. They also seek the best in others; and demand it from themselves. The Andrews Center takes care of each other and values ethics, honesty and integrity. The staff welcomes your questions and they will never turn you away because of your race, sex, age, religion or disability. My experience with Andrews Center has been good and I would encourage you to seek help, if you need it.

Pregnancy and Abortion Information Resource Center

(Sonograms, consultation, and confidential advice)

1003 S Baxter Ave, Tyler, TX 75701

Tyler Abortion Clinic resource center is a ministry that YWAM offers for any pregnant girl. Their goal is to save as many babies as they can and help the mother make the best decision for her and her baby besides abortion. The Tyler abortion clinic resource center is located close to T.J.C. (Tyler Junior College). They offer free pregnancy tests for the girls that go in their office and also counsel them if they want it.

They have available a free sonogram so that the expectant mother can see their baby. Besides providing tests for them they also inform the girls about the dangers of having sex outside of marriage and about getting sexually transmitted diseases. The staff working there are wonderful women of God who love God and want the girls in there to make the right decision for their lives and their baby.

Tyler Abortion Resource Center is a blessing because they actually care about both lives, the life of the baby and the life of the mother. It seems to me that any other place you go today they would rather you abort the baby because it’s an inconvenience for your life instead of a blessing. They also have videos to watch that prepare you for becoming a mother.

Trust me it is not an easy task to take on planned or unplanned motherhood.  Being a mother is a life long thing to where you will learn how to be the best mother over time with the help of God, Christian role models and family.  Abortion Clinic in Tyler resource center helps you get started in the right direction. They also have a program called Building Blocks where the girls can go earn points and get stuff that they need for their children. The way it works is that you meet with a counselor, they give you the things you need to do before your next appointment. When you arrive at your next appointment, if you have completed the things they required you to, then you earn points and you in return can go shopping for your baby.

Some of the things you have to complete there to earn points are some parenting classes, watching some videos, going and getting WIC and going to your doctor appointment and other stuff like that. Tyler Texas Abortion Clinic resource center and Building Blocks work together to better prepare the girls for parenthood. They are a non profit organization and everything they have is by donation. I look at it this way, they are people who offer up their lives to help others in need without wanting anything in return.

These days you can’t find too many places or people who are willing to give of themselves the way I have seen the people at the Abortion Clinic Resource Center and Building Blocks do for so many years. Just in case you know of anyone who needs help in this area, have them contact the Abortion Clinic Information Center in Tyler because I guarantee you that whoever is going to help you cares about you and your child or friend. I could not think of a better place for you to go and get help if you find yourself in a place that you thought you would never end up.

Unplanned pregnancy could happen to anyone and that next person could be you. Don’t worry because the people there won’t judge you because of the pregnancy whether it is planned or unplanned. They love God and they love God’s children, whoever they might be or whatever they might have done to get there in the first place. Abortion Clinic Info Center in Tyler TX has been a blessing for many girls including myself.

Tyler Dentists Care And Comfort

January 12th, 2010

What is more uncomfortable that a dentist office? Nothing comes to your mind? Well, it doesn’t has to be that way. Smith Dental Care is known for its comforting care for their patients. They not only have options for pain relief through “laughing gas” or I.V. but they also have other ways to make you feel comfortable, even through the pulling and drilling. When you first walk into the Tyler Dentists clinic you are greeted by smiling faces and entertaining conversation. You may be use to the uncomfortable, uncushioned chair.

Teeth Whitening Tyler Texas

As you sit expect to be surprised when they ask if you would like the massager on or off, or if you want a pillow and blanket. And expect to feel pampered as they hand you your own remote and head phones to control your personal television. As the doctors come in to work on your teeth prepare to be entertained by delightful conversation, even though you probably will just be listening. They have very easy payment plans and are always eager to work with you no matter your situation. Satisfaction is a guarantee. Its is easy to set up new appointments and reschedule old appointments. They even have a follow up phone call to check on their patients recovery.

The dentists at Dr. Smith’s office and their assistants are professional and always friendly and understanding. Whatever you need they are willing to help you, and answer any questions.

Smith Dental Care maybe more expensive than other dental offices here in Tyler, but I assure you that you will have a very satisfying dental experience with comfort and in a clean friendly environment.

Bethesda Health Clinic

January 9th, 2010

Bethesda Health Clinic has been invaluable to me. This clinic offers incredibly discounted medical service to people in Smith County who are working but are uninsured. They serve an average of 10,000 patients each year with basic out patient health services. They have expanded in their abilities and equipment to offer dental care, colonoscopy and endoscopy procedures, and have most recently begun a program for treating diabetics in which they maintain regular communication with the patients.

At this time our nation is in uproar about solving the medical needs of our uninsured citizens. People are losing jobs. Meanwhile, the costs of health care have not gone down. People are worried that with the state of the economy it’s going to be even more difficult to be taken care of.  Tyler, TX is no exception to this. There is a huge need for the residents of Smith County to have health care. There are government run options for those in the poverty bracket, but what about the rest of us? And if we are in the poverty bracket, do we really want government run health services? It didn’t take living in Tyler very long to hear the answer. Bethesda offers the most reasonable solution I’ve seen or heard of to these needs.

I am a volunteer missionary living in Tyler. When I came down with the worst sore throat I’d ever had, some close friends and coworkers pointed me to Bethesda Health Clinic in downtown Tyler. I made a phone call to ask how to begin. The receptionist was kind and quick to help me figure out what I would need to bring in. I needed some basic identification documents and proof of employment. I went in to apply for the program and was pleasantly surprised. The waiting room did not look like most charitable health clinics I’ve been to. The furniture was nice. The walls were painted freshly with cheerful colors. There were attractive paintings instead of the usual depressing posters.

What made the biggest impression on me was how incredibly nice the workers were. From the receptionist to the doctors, I was blown away. They treated me like an equal instead of a beggar. They looked me in the eyes and smiled with genuine interest in my situation. The doctor discovered that I had strep throat and was able to give me an antibiotic for free from samples they had on hand. When I checked out I was amazed to find that the total cost for my visit was fifteen dollars.

The clinic was thought up by a physician in 1999 who shared her vision to the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Tyler. The pastor, Dr. Michael Massar, took the vision to his church staff and members and with in just a few years the clinic was up and running. They first opened their doors on September 6, 2003. After four months they had already treated 372 patients. Bethesda is run by a staff of 750 volunteers. There are 180 doctors, 140 nurses and hundreds more who help with the administrative, maintenance and clerical jobs. The patients are about 40 percent Hispanic, 40 percent Caucasian, 19 percent African American with jobs ranging from volunteer missionaries like me to jobs with the Tyler Independent School District. In short, this operation is nothing short of amazing.

Bethesda Health Clinic is setting an example of a better solution to our nation’s health care needs. People with good hearts who want to serve and pour out their lives for the less fortunate will always produce a better service than a government could offer.

BioLife Plasma Services in Tyler

January 8th, 2010

As someone who knows what it is like to be a struggling college student, I thought I would suggest what may seem to some like a somewhat extreme method of making a little extra cash each week. Now, I know what you’re probably thinking, so let me assure you that it is perfectly legal, and there’s no need to remove any clothing. I’m referring to “donating” plasma at Biolife Plasma Services in Tyler.

What exactly is Blood Plasma?

Blood plasma is the yellowish fluid mixed into the blood. It’s the portion which contains the blood’s cells and is easily replaced after a couple of meals. During the donation process, blood is extracted from the donor, the plasma is separated, and the remainder of the blood is returned to the patient’s blood stream. The plasma is then used for medical research as well as the manufacture of treatments for various forms of disease. What should I expect from the donation process?

In order to become a donor, an investment of about three hours is required. You’ll want to make an appointment, as the Tyler Texas plasma center is always full of people. Don’t just show up expecting to give, and get paid an hour later. When you make an appointment the staff will set up your account and give you a brief physical. This is not a complete physical but consists mostly of a blood pressure test, and standing on a scale. There is also an extensive series of questions regarding medical and sexual history. Personal privacy and dignity is protected by the fact that after the initial visit the questions are answered via touch screen computer. Contrary to urban legend, having a tattoo or two does not disqualify you from donating, provided any tats or piercings are at least four months old.

After the initial visit the process usually takes around an hour and fifteen minutes. Each visit the donor is required to answer the questionnaire, weigh in, have his or her finger pricked, and blood pressure and temperature tested. Once this short ritual is completed the donor is directed to a bed where the I.V. is inserted. Don’t worry after a couple of minutes you’ll completely forget it’s there. I should also say a word about a pre-donation meal. It is very important to eat prior to donating. Once, I neglected to eat due to a busy morning and still gave. It was a most unpleasant experience. The rule, as I understand it, is not to wait longer than three, or three and a half hours after eating to give blood. Failure to heed this advice results in nausea and dizziness.

What are the rewards of donating plasma?

On one hand I am not going to say that the process is always pleasant, particularly if you’re squeamish, but it’s not a terrible one either. There is generally little discomfort, and for an hour of reading time, the pay is pretty good. The staff there is really great. They are competent, helpful and friendly. Giving blood twice a week you can expect to make from two hundred to around three hundred five dollars a month. Twice a week is the maximum donors are allowed to give, and visits cannot add up to three in a seven day span. Even after the initial visit you’ll have to continue making appointments, which can be done on line. Beyond the immediate financial benefit, you can be assured that the sacrifice is for a worthy cause. Tyler’s Biolife Plasma Services is located at 1827 W. Gentry Tyler Texas.
