The Hague Sports

November 18th, 2010
The Hague Sports

The Hague sports started as nothing more than a blog written by a Stephen F. Austin State University student. As Nathan Hague, along with Luke Johnson, began to do podcasts, (internet radio shows) they began to expand, and they opened a new website www.thehaguesports.com.

The show started with Nathan Hague, the host of the show and sportswriter who prides himself on his many interviews of big named athletes. Along with Nathan was Luke “Ocho-Cinco” Johnson, who is known for his love of two things, the A&M Aggies and Brett Favre. Joining them later on were Stephen Todd, known for his self-proclaimed nickname Stevie-Westside, and Ben Dieter, one of Texas Rangers’ most loyal fans. Jason Hague is a frequent guest on the Hague Sports, who brings a little more sarcasm to the show, and has an ongoing argument with Luke Ocho-Cinco about who is the best quarterback of the NFL.

The Hague Sports covers many college and professional sports. The biggest subjects covered by the show are college and professional football, college and professional basketball, and professional baseball. One of the most popular traditions of the show is the “Drama Queen Award”. This award is given to someone involved in the sports world that starts drama or causes a fuss. A few of the cast members nominate a different person involved in sports and they vote on who has caused more drama, and crown them that weeks Drama Queen.

The show and articles on haguesports.com are quite entertaining, and always up to date with the news in the sports world. It is fun to tune in to hear the cast members give each other a hard time and place fun bets on game picks. The cast gives a whole new perspective on sporting events.

Tyler Texas Haunted House

Terror Nights Haunted House

Tyler, TX 75702

Website: http://www.terrornightshaunt.com/

Someone named Sheri wrote a really negative review about this haunted house in Tyler on Google Places, she said

“My experience to your haunted house was definitely a nightmare. I was pushed out the exit doors and got to spend the night in the ER with 30 stiches”

I have not been to this haunted house before but it seems to be sponsored by a ton of big companies including the Spirit Halloween costume store.

A veteran actor and employee posted a 5 star positive review back stating that her review of this haunted house is a lie.

So we have a one 1 star review and one 5 star review from an employee, hmm which one should we listen too?

The Terror Nights Haunted House is touted to be a very safe experience by the veteran employee responding to Sheri.

The employee mentioned that this year they installed a top of the line fire safety system. Terror Nights has safety exit doors in every room and they train their employees to keep a watchful eye while scaring you at the same time.

Although this employee says Sheri is a liar the employee also states that they are sorry if the incidents she claimed happened really did happen.

The employee goes on to say some of the things in her review however ring false.

I am a safety conscience person and would personally like to know what in Sheris review is false. It would be helpful to know if the 30 stitches was needed because of a gash from the Terror Nights Haunted House or something else.

My conclusion in regards to all this injury drama is that I will definitely be scared if I go through Terror Nights Haunted House regardless how good or bad the acting and costumes might be.

Shakespeare Festival

Shakespeare Festival Kilgore TX

Shakespeare Festival

The summer has ended and we welcome the fall season. Sadly, that ends this season of The Shakespeare Festival in Kilgore Texas. If you missed this season of comedy and romance, there will be a new season of fun plays starting up next summer. This summer the festival put on five very different plays.

Although the Shakespeare Festival has done this play in the pas, they brought back one of the most loved plays that has been acted on their stage, Two Gentlemen of Verona, written by William Shakespeare. The comical play is about two men that are in love with the same women. Director Gregg W. Brevoort brings the play to life with great talented actors and fun music that is from the 1930’s.

One of Shakespeare’s most love romantic plays, As You Like It, was acted out beautifully. The actors drew you into a different world for a moment. Jack Young allowed us to enter his mind as a director, and see his vision of Shakespeare’s play. Brendon Fox brings the fast pasted and fun play, The Learned Ladies, to the Kilgore stage. Moliere wrote this fun romantic comedy. The extreme costumes and bright fun colors made the play even more fun and exciting. Writer Richard Rodgers along with director and Choreographer Alan Souza retell the Biblical story of Noah and the ark in a fun and Musical way. The play was done tastefully. This was another great show of colors and costumes that made the play even more fun. Every year they put on a play that is fun for the whole family. This year the brought to life the well know and loved fable, The Tortoise and he Hare by Alan Broadhurst. Jennifer Burke brought fun loving characters to life. With a fun cast they were able to bring humor and entertainment to people and families of all ages.

Although this year of plays has pasted next year will begin and you will be able to enjoy more fun characters, amazing costumes, romantic comedies that will leave you laughing, and tragedies that will leave you in tears. The Shakespeare festival is great entertainment and is not much more expensive than going to see a movie in the theater.

Kilgore’s Oil Museum

Kilgore Oil Museum

Kilgore Oil Museum

The Oil Museum in Kilgore Texas is a reminder of how East Texas became known and how the people of East Texas were able to endure The Great Depression by the discovery of “black gold”. The museum recreates the way people lived during the discovery of the largest discovery of oil in the United States. The museum is located on the campus of Kilgore College.

As you walk into the museum you are lead into the first doom shaped room that portrays some history of the oil fields. The Oil Museum brings you back in time by showing you some treasures from the 1930’s. The museum has a display of old furniture, 1930 cars, antique jewelry, and old radios. As you walk into the final room you are sent back into time as you walk through an old town. Walk through old restaurants, grocery stores, jails, and post offices. They display how the roads were affected by the oil boom, with cars, people, and animals sinking in the black mud. Not very much has changed through all the years that I have visited the museum. They have a small theater that shows the same short movie that was played when I was young. The movie shows the life styles of the people and the changes that happened after the founding of the oil in Kilgore and even has some real footage. Your little children will love the fun “elevator” ride. Take a trip under ground through the different levels of earth and rock. Fun puppets will put on a show to educate children of the different levels of rocks, and how people get oil out of the ground. As you are leaving you can visit the gift shop to get a shirt, candy, or a small gift to remember the fun time you had at the museum.

People travel to visit the Oil Museum. It is a fun place to bring your family and learn an important history of Kilgore, Texas. Although the museum has not changed very much, it does not really need to change. It is a great place to bring an elementary class. The Oil Museum is very fun and educational.

Tyler State Park

September 24th, 2010

If you are looking for some good family fun that does not include a man dressed up in a giant mouse, or sitting in a dark room glued to a giant television screen, I recommend spending the day at Tyler State Park.

At Tyler State Park there is so much to do for the whole family. If you love to spend time on the water, here you can rent a canoe, or paddle boat, or bring your own. The park has an area that you can swim. Usually the beach area and swimming area are pretty crowded. The swimming area is roped off but it is easy to get to the rest of the lake, so you have to watch your kids closely while they are swimming. If you enjoy biking and walking, Tyler State Park is known for their great mountain bike trails. Some of the trails are pretty hard to ride and some trails are much easier. The walking trails are great for family hikes. It is great to have a place that is fun to take family walks and enjoy the out doors.

On a nice cool night there really is not anything that compares to sitting under the stars and around a warm camp fire. Tyler State Park has some really nice camp sites that include camp fire pits and grills so you can cook hamburgers or hotdogs. The camp sites are either shelter, areas where you can park your RV, or areas where you can put up a tent. The sheltered area is basically an empty building with screen windows, and cement floors.

At the park there are all different animals. The last time I was out at one of their camp grounds we were visited by a very curious fat raccoon. It was pretty scary that the raccoon would not run away after people chasing it away and throwing things at it to get it to get off our camping area. It is against park rules to kill the park animals. The raccoon was use to people and was really well fed. I recommend that you keep your trash bags off the ground while you are sleeping or away from your camp grounds, or else animals like raccoons will get into your trash and make a huge mess that you are responsible for.

So instead of putting your kids in front of the television, enjoy time with them playing on the playgrounds, camping, cooking marshmallows over the fire, or having a picnic at Tyler State Park.
