Apparently there are a lot Johnny Manziel fans who want the Houston Texas to draft the young quarterback. Manziel was born in Tyler but grew up in Kerville and attended Texas A&M.
Now the Texans have the first overall and the quarterback position is one of their biggest needs. The fact that they lost 14 straight to finish the season with a record of 2-14 is evidence that they have more needs than just quarterback, but the signal caller is a good place to start, and many fans are hopeful the team will get that start with the former Aggie and Heisman Trophy winner.
Some fans are so hopefull in fact, that they started a website (www.draftjohnnymanziel.com) and made a billboard advertising that website.
The Texans will start from scratch next season. They have a new head coach in Bill O’Brien who was most recently head coach at Penn State University where he replaced Joe Paterno. Before that he was an assistant coach for Bill Belichick.
Who knows? It’s not impossible that O’Brien will draft Manziel and there would be a mixture of reaction if that were to happen. However, don’t expect it to be the case. Regardless of where he ends up, it’ll be interesting to see how his career unfolds.
